The Spirit of Cairns Sunset Cruise With Dinner

The Spirit of Cairns Sunset Cruise is such a relaxing experience, and a great way to mark an occasion.

We’ve had many guests celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or even just the last day of their visit to Cairns by enjoying a buffet style dinner on the Spirit of Cairns.

What To Expect

Last time we dined on the Spirit of Cairns Sunset Cruise, we were celebrating catching up with some family who were visiting that we hadn’t seen for a while.

I love the relaxed vibe that this sunset dinner cruise has with its live music and friendly staff. The boat caps out the number of people to 50, giving you plenty of space so that you don’t feel like you’ve been packed on like sardines and you still get plenty of attention from the staff if you require it.

The entire dinner cruise goes for 2 1/2 hours, leaving at around 6.30pm and returning around 9pm – boarding starts at 6pm.

Times may change slightly depending on the sunset time in Cairns… It could be a littler earlier or later but you’ll be notified at the time of booking.

As you arrive at the boat, you’ll be greeted by staff and offered a complimentary beer, bubbles or soft drink.

The boat cruises up and down the inlet and Cairns marina in calm waters.

It give you gorgeous views of city lights after the sun sets, providing the perfect serene (and perhaps even romantic) backdrop while dining.

Food and Drinks On The Spirit Of Cairns

Up until recently, the Spirit of Cairns had a buffet style meal, but with what I can only assume to be a result of COVID restrictions, the meal is now served as a set menu.

While I do love a buffet, the set menu is simplistic but still looks delicious.

Other than the complimentary drink on arrival, any other beverages are to be purchased from the bar.

They have a cocktail menu full of yummy options that really do remind you that you’re amidst the beautiful tropics… though I can never go past a cheeky Moscow Mule.

In Conclusion

I recommend The Spirit Of Cairns Sunset Cruise with Dinner for people wanting to celebrate an occasion, or even just looking for a nice dine-out experience in Cairns.

Considering you dock back into Cairns by around 9pm, this is a suitable romantic night out, even for parents with young children as it isn’t too late for the babysitters.

The Spirit of Cairns sunset cruise is the only dinner cruise in Cairns that actually serves dinner on the boat. In my experience, staff are always really receptive and genuinely look as if they’re enjoying themselves, which honestly makes such a difference for me.

The food was really yummy and the live entertainment helped set the scene for a great night out.
